Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warns that Cyprus East Med energy exploration will end in failure.

“We are saddened by their (Greek Cypriot) unilateral hydrocarbon explorations in the Eastern Mediterranean that are doomed to fail,” Erdogan was reported as saying in the Turkish media.

He said that Turkey would continue to respond firmly to “impositions” in the Eastern Mediterranean and that Ankara will respond both on the ground and diplomatically.

“Everyone will see and understand in the end that these attempts that continue to disregard our country and our brotherhood will end in failure,” said the Turkish President.

Erdogan has warned international companies such as France’s Total, Italy’s ENI and US giant ExxonMobil not to get involved in tapping Cyprus’ energy resources for which they are licensed to do.

Earlier this year, Turkish warships blocked an ENI drillship from reaching an exploration site within Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone.
