The 5-star Radisson Blu seeks to change the tourist map of Larnaca while upgrading the island’s leisure industry with Cyprus’ first purpose-built business hotel.

Located next to Larnaca port, the hotel cost €50 mln to build and employs 200 staff. It is said to be the first luxury hotel built in the town since 1978.

The 16-floor hotel boasts 106 sea view rooms – with some of the largest hotel rooms in Cyprus – 56 sq.m. suites – a gym, sauna, outdoor pool with a bar, an all-day restaurant and a sky bar claiming pride of place at the highest point in the town.

It also boats exclusive boutiques, a Cuban cigar lounge, and a gourmet restaurant serving fish from the Amazon.

Blu also offers multiple venues for business meetings and conference halls equipped with state-of-the-art technology with a capacity of up to 300 people.

The Radisson Blu Hotel is part of the Radisson Hotel Group one of the most well-known hotel franchises in the world, with more than 1,400 hotels operating across the globe.

The property is owned by Larnaca-based Quality Group – one of the largest investments and land development companies in Cyprus – and managed by a leading company in hotel management and operations, SunnySeeker Hotels, with seven hotels in Larnaca and Ayia Napa under its belt.

Radisson Blu Hotel constitutes one of the largest investments in Larnaca’s history and aims to attract business and conference tourism plus Cypriots wanting to dine out.

Quality Group CEO Savvas Kakos said during Wednesday’s official opening: "Radisson Blu is undoubtedly a milestone project for Larnaca and it has come to change the tourist map of the area.”

He added: “It constitutes one of the biggest investments in the history of Larnaca, it is the tallest building in the town, the first business hotel in Cyprus and the first luxury hotel built in the town since 1978.”

Marios Polyviou, CEO of SunnySeeker Hotels, said Larnaca hosting a world brand hotel chain is an achievement in itself and bodes well for the future.

He said Radisson Blu would help in elevating Larnaca tourism in a resort town that has come bottom in Cyprus for the number of overnight stays and available beds.

“It also opens the way for more Radisson hotels elsewhere in Cyprus, this can only be a positive,” said Polyviou.
