CYPRUS: Job vacancies have spiked 90% since last year

The number of job vacancies in the second quarter of 2018 increased by 2,440 (90.1%) compared to the same quarter of 2017 when the figure was 2,708, according to official data.


This puts the number of job vacancies recorded in May-July 2018 was 5,148.

Compared to the first quarter of 2018 the number of job vacancies increased by 1,387 (36.8%).

The job vacancy rate for Q2 was 1.4%, while the job vacancy rate for the previous quarter was 1.2% and 0.8% in Q2 2017.

The largest job vacancy rates in Q2 were witnessed in the fields of Arts, Entertainment and Recreation (+2.7%) and Accommodation and Food Service Activities (+2.6%). The lowest rates were in public administration and education.
