More than 320 flights are expected to land or take-off from Cyprus on Sunday, making it the busiest day of the year for the island’s two international airports.

Larnaca and Paphos Airports are experiencing the peak of their passenger traffic as August is the month with the most flights and the largest passenger flow, according to airports operator Hermes.

It said that Sunday 19 August will be the day with the most passengers as it expects a total of 329 flights will be carried out to and from Larnaca and Paphos airports. This translates to approximately 61,000 air seats.

Most flights during August are to and from Athens and the Greek islands, Moscow, St. Petersburg, London, Manchester and Tel Aviv.

Hermes Airports official Maria Kouroupi told CNA that passenger traffic for 2018 was satisfactory.

She said that a significant increase has been recorded over the past two years, which, in conjunction with the results for 2018, will give an overall increase of more than 40%.

Larnaca Airport will accommodate 253 flights and 47,000 passengers, while Wednesday August 22 will be the busiest day for Paphos with 100 flights carrying 19,000 passengers.
