The Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) said that tourist arrivals are expected to reach a new record of 3.6 mln this year, after arrivals breached the 3 mln mark for the first time last year.

The Statistical Service Cystat said tourist arrivals in the January-August period reached 2.51 mln, marking a new record for the specific period.

“Based on indications so far, the overall annual performance for 2017 will mark an historic record exceeding 3.6 mln arrivals,” the CTO said in an announcement to coincide with the World Tourism Day on September 27.
