The Paphos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) wants a jetty in its harbour and a jetty or marina in Polis Chrysochous, for which studies are being carried out to determine the economic and technical viability of the projects, Paphos CCI President Andreas Demetriades told CNA.

If the projects are deemed viable, a series of incentives will be given to the private sector, including shops, restaurants and other facilities and amenities on the jetty.
Demetriades said the aim is to facilitate large cruise ships to dock, and to create a passage for tourists to walk straight into the harbour without having to use boats or other vessels, as they do today.
He noted that the studies being carried out provide for a thorough evaluation of the international cruise ship market, especially the market in the Mediterranean.
He added that measures must be taken to safeguard the upgrading of the services and the functionality of the harbour, and to improve the ease of movement of visitors in the harbour.
Demetriades pointed out that Paphos, due to its geographical location and natural beauty, is high on the priority list of cruise organisers.
