UK: Eleni Polycarpou appointed to Withers’ partnership

One of the eight lawyers appointed to partnership at the London-based law firm Withers LLP in the latest annual round is Cyprus-born Eleni Polycarpou, a litigation and arbitration specialist.


 
Eleni heads the International Arbitration group, and acts for clients in front of a number of the international arbitration forums, including the LMAA, ICC and LCIA, as well as ad hoc arbitration proceedings. Eleni is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and qualified to take arbitrator appointments.
Eleni specialises in international and domestic commercial disputes including heavyweight commercial fraud work both in the English Courts and in international arbitration. She acts for high net worth individuals and their companies often advising on shareholder and joint venture disputes, banking disputes, contract and tort disputes. She has a particular expertise in art law and is responsible for contentious art matters in the London office.
She has been described in the directories as someone who is ‘extraordinarily hard-working and conscientious’, a ‘star of the future’ and as someone who ‘just gets it, knows how cases should be handled especially when it comes to the very sensitive ones’. In art law she is described as someone who is ‘highly respected within the sector’.
Eleni speaks fluent Greek, English and Italian.
