The Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) has appointed CAA International (CAAi), the state-to-state advisory arm of the UK Civil Aviation Authority (UK CAA) to provide the DCA with technical safety oversight and certification support.

CAAi’s assistance will be focused on flight operations and airworthiness.
As one of Europe’s top tourist destinations, and a large majority of visitors arriving to the island by air, continually enhancing civil aviation standards is a top priority for the Cyprus government, the CAAi said, adding it will act as an Advisor to the DCA and the support will include flight operation inspections and airworthiness surveillance of aircraft registered in Cyprus, Air Operator Certificate holders and approved maintenance organisations.
“With just under 9 million passengers flying through Cyprus each year, while over 2.5 million fly from and to Cyprus through UK airports, it is important to us that not only UK travellers but passengers from across the world can enjoy the high standard of safety aviation oversight when travelling to and from Cyprus,” said Matthew Margesson, Head of International Development of CAAi.
The project is expected to run for a period of one year.
