CYPRUS: High-level trade team visits India

President Nicos Anastasiades, who is paying a state visit to India, met with Chennamaneni Vidyasagar Rao, the Governor of the state of Maharashtra, with whom he discussed prospects for further cooperation in the fields of finance and commerce.


 
The President referred to the perspectives of the Cypriot economy and the comparative advantages. They also discussed issues relating to the need for cooperation in the war against terrorism.
Later, Anastasiades met with Indian businessmen of the film industry in Mumbai.
Accompanied by Spokesman Nicos Christodoulides, Finance Minister Harris Georghiades, Energy and Tourism Minister Yiorgos Lakkotrypis, Agriculture Minister Nicos Kouyialis and Transport Minister Marios Demetriades, the president’s visit aims to affirm, among other things, the strong political relations between Cyprus and India and to strengthen further the economic and commercial ties between the two countries.
Christodoulides said that the visit aims to serve three goals: to affirm the strong and high level political relations between the two countries, the growth and further strengthening of the commercial and financial relations in areas such as air transport, shipping and tourism, and to further enhance India’s relations with the EU.
During the President’s visit to New Delhi and his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a number of bilateral agreements will be signed between Cyprus and India.
