CYPRUS: Trade deficit widens further

The trade deficit in January jumped by 58% to EUR 349.8 mln compared with EUR 220.9 mln in the same period of 2016, the Statistical Service Cystat said on Tuesday.


 
Total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other EU member-states) in January amounted to EUR 515.3 mln, an increase of 56% from EUR 330.9 mln in January last year.
Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other EU member-states) in January increased by 55% to EUR 165.5 mln compared to EUR 110.0 mln in January 2016.
Εxports/dispatches of domestically produced goods, including stores and provisions, totalled EUR 97.5 mln whilst exports/dispatches of foreign goods, including stores and provisions, were EUR 68.0 mln.
