CYPRUS: Jobless down 6.8% y-o-y

The number of registered unemployed was down by 2,956 persons or 6.8% in November, compared to the same month last year, the statistical service Cystat said on Monday.

 
It said the reduction was mainly observed in the sectors of construction (a decrease of 1,107 unemployed persons), manufacturing (a decrease of 627), transportation (a decrease of 406), trade (a decrease of 387), public administration (a decrease of 360) and to newcomers in the labour market (a decrease of 184).
According to Cystat, the unemployed persons registered at the District Labour Offices on the last day of November, reached 40,646 persons.
Based on the seasonally adjusted data that show the trend of unemployment, the number of registered unemployed for November increased to 38,244 persons in comparison to 37,777 in the previous month.
