CYPRUS: Trade deficit widens in Jan-April

The trade deficit recorded an increase in January – April this year compared to last year. According to the Statistical Service, the trade deficit was EUR 988,7 mln in January-April 2016 compared to EUR 971,5 mln in the corresponding period of 2015.


 
Total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other Member States) in January-April 2016 amounted to EUR 1.512,4 mln as compared to EUR 1.648,4 mln in January-April 2015.
Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other Member States) in January-April 2016 were EUR 523,7 mln compared to EUR 676,9 mln in January-April 2015.
Meanwhile, during April total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other Member States) valued at EUR 405,3 mln.
Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other Member States), including stores and provisions, in April amounted to EUR 153,8 mln.
Exports/dispatches of domestically produced goods, including stores and provisions, were EUR 84,0 mln whilst exports/dispatches of foreign goods, including stores and provisions, were EUR 69,8 mln.
