CYPRUS: 35 vie for Stelios bi-communal awards

The deadline for applications for the Stelios Bi-Communal Awards 2015 is next Tuesday, September 15, according to the organisers of the event, the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation.


The non-profit, fully-funded by serial entrepreneur and easyJet founder Stelios HajiIoannou, said that so far 35 applications have been received.
The awards ceremony will take place on the October 30 at the Bi-Communal Café on the premises of the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation, located in Old Nicosia Town near the Old Market and the Archbishopric.
The foundation said that the total of grants to be awarded this year is 300,000 euros, the highest ever in a single year, bringing the cumulative total to 1.5 mln euros during the past seven years that the awards have been held.
A total of 30 winning bi-communal teams, which must include at least one Greek Cypriot and one Turkish Cypriot, will each get a grant of 10,000 euros.
