As the Honorary Benefactor of this year’s Cyprus-Russian Festival, which took place on the 6th and 7th of June in Limassol, the Andrey and Julia Dashin’s Foundation made generous contributions to two local charitable organisations that are renowned for their positive impact on the community they serve.
Andrey Dashin, co-founder of the Foundation, in the presence of President Anastasiades, and the First Lady, Mrs Andri Anastasiades, presented a €5000 donation to the Children Therapy Centre Stella Soulioti of the Cyprus Red Cross Society. The President of the Red Cross Limassol Branch, Mrs Niki Hadjitsangari, who received the donation on behalf of the Red Cross, said: “The Children Therapy Centre Stella Soulioti is the only one of its kind in Cyprus and treats around 75 children that live with severe physical disabilities, such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy and other physical and developmental problems. We are very grateful to the Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation for their genuine interest in the Centre and their valuable support which gives us strength to continue our work. The Centre relies on such financial assistance to be able to cover its operational expenses and continue providing high quality medical and nursing care to the children in need”.
The beneficiary of the second donation was the Miranda programme for physiotherapy for children with disabilities of the Dancing Queen Foundation. The Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation matched the funds generated from a series of fundraising activities during the Festival, doubling the amount raised. As a result, a substantial total contribution of €1200 was presented during the closing ceremony of the two-day event to the representatives of the selected charity. The fundraising activities included educational and entertainment activities for children, such as robotics and making of Pythagorean cups, hosted by the Foundation in collaboration with Frederick University.
Andrey Dashin, who received an honorary award from the Festival’s organisers as a gesture of gratitude for the Foundation’s contribution to the Festival, said: “As an integral part of the local community, our Foundation could not be absent from a long-standing event that celebrates the Cyprus-Russian friendship. At the same time the Festival is an opportunity for us to give to charitable causes and offer support to those in need. We are committed to continue responding to the needs of local charitable organisations and we warmly thank all volunteers and donors who contributed to the success of our fund-raising activities during this year’s Festival”.
