The Nicosia town hall was lit up in green to commemorate St Patrick’s Day (March 17), joining the world network of capital cities and landmark buildings that celebrates the Irish holiday.

The building will remain lit up in green up to Wednesday night, as with the other buildings around the world.
Deputy Mayor Eleni Loucaidou and Ireland’s Ambassador to Cyprus, Nicholas Twist, switched the light on Monday night during a humble ceremony, telling guests that more landmarks are joining the Emerald Isle’s celebrations around the world, such as the Eiffel Tower, the Colosseum, the Pyramids of Egypt, the Great Wall of China, the Empire State Building and the Sydney Opera.
