Qatar Airways recently celebrated the inauguration of its new city office in Nicosia – centrally located, attended by top regional travel agents and local media. The ribbon was cut by Qatar Airways Senior Vice President North, South and Western Europe, Mr. Jonathan Harding and Qatar's Ambassador in Cyprus His Excellency Hussain Ahmad Al-Homaid.

Mr. Harding said that Cyprus is such a diverse island and presents multiple opportunities for Qatar Airways. “Cyprus has proved to be an excellent market for Qatar Airways, with operations starting less than a year back, we have made quite big strides in such a short time. Of course this was made possible due to tremendous support received from local agents, their feedback has helped us understand market demand better and create a more localized product”, said Harding

This is been an excellent last 12 months for Qatar Airways, new routes, Larnaca being one of them, increased frequencies on existing routes, moving to Hamad International Airport, fleet expansions, taking delivery of three new aircraft types: the A319 all-Business Class; the Airbus A380, and the Global Launch Customer of the A350. With the receipt of these new aircraft, Qatar Airways is the only airline in the world to operate every family of Airbus’ modern airline portfolio.

Qatar Airways has seen rapid growth in just 18 years of operation, to the point where today it is flying a modern fleet of 146 aircraft to 146 key business and leisure destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, North America and South America.

Qatar Airways celebrated its one year anniversary, in October 2014, of joining the oneworld global alliance. The award-winning alliance was named the World’s Best Airline Alliance 2014 by Skytrax for the second year running. Qatar Airways was the first Gulf carrier to join this global airline alliance, enabling its passengers to benefit from almost 1,000 airports in more than 150 countries, with 14,250 daily departures. Qatar Airways has more than 340 aircraft on order with a value of US $70 billion.
