With Christmas just around the corner, DHL Cyprus has received an award at the Social Responsibility REACTION Excellence Awards 2014. The Awards ceremony organised by REACTION Youth for the Prevention, a non -profit organisation, recognises DHL’s social contribution as well as the support it has provided to the organisation over the last year.
During the Awards 2014, which took place on December 11, private, semi-governmental and governmental organisations were awarded for their contribution to society across a wide range of activities. The general public was involved in the award process, recommending organisations and/or individuals who have actively supported our fellow citizens and society in general.
Through its CSR programme, DHL Cyprus has actively contributed to the work of REACTION, an NGO that supports the development and wellbeing of youth in the areas of road safety, juvenile delinquency, public and personal health, environmental protection and education. The cooperation with DHL Cyprus began in the summer of 2013 when the logistics company responded to REACTION’s call to support the “Caravan of Love”, a campaign aiming to collect food and other necessities for Cypriots facing acute financial difficulties. Subsequently DHL strengthened its cooperation with REACTION by supporting the implementation of various programmes aimed at informing young people about road safety issues and in its various initiatives for social intervention.
Dinos Ioannides, DHL Express Cyprus Country Manager said: "Here at DHL we are committed to offering our support to society, especially nowadays when the need for such private initiatives are more important. The recognition of DHL's contribution to the efforts of REACTION serves as encouragement to our staff to continue volunteering and responding to calls for assistance. We would like to thank Reaction and our volunteers for their valuable cooperation and contribution."
DHL's comprehensive corporate social responsibility programme is structured along the three main pillars: offering humanitarian aid (GoHelp), supporting the right of learning (GoTeach) and protecting the environment (GoGreen). DHL Cyprus supports the Cypriot society by adapting its social contributions to meet local needs.
