AVIATION: Gulf Air launches maiden flight to Moscow

Gulf Air launched its four weekly direct services from Bahrain to Moscow on Tuesday. The launch of the new route follows the visit of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the Russian capital and the preceding visit of Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.


Commenting on the launch of Gulf Air’s newest destination, Maher Salman Al Musallam, the airline’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, said King Hamad’s visit marked the beginning of new strategic business, investment and tourism cooperation between Bahrain and the Russian Federation.
Onboard the inaugural flight to Moscow, Sh. Mai bint Mohammed bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, Minister of Culture and Mrs. Sameera bint Rajab, Minister of State for Information Affairs were accompanied by Gulf Air’s Acting CEO and Victor Smirnov, Russia’s Ambassador to Bahrain, together with senior members from the airline and regional journalists who were met at Domodedovo International Airport by Russian officials.
Gulf Air’s four weekly Moscow flights will depart from Bahrain on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 09.00 and will be operated by an Airbus A320-ER aircraft with 110-seat capacity in a two-class configuration (14 Falcon Gold flatbed and 96 Economy with wide legroom).
