Almost 350 refugees who were rescued Thursday by the Cyprus Republic when found stranded on a small vessel off the coast of the island are being transferred to a designated accommodation area in the village of Kokkinotrimithia, in the Nicosia district.

Since early Friday morning, 63 people, men, women and children of all ages arrived at the accommodation centre while two more buses with refugees are on their way to the shelter.

All competent services of the Republic have rushed to the area and are providing assistance to the people in need. All refugees underwent a medical check yesterday upon their arrival at Limassol port. The Police are taking down all relevant information (names, ages etc) and later on the authorities will follow all relevant procedures under EU and international law.
