HEALTH: Cyprus has adopted objectives of ”2020” strategy

The objectives of the "Health 2020" strategy are included in the principles the Health Ministry is following for the reform of the public health system in Cyprus, Minister Philippos Patsalis has said.

Addressing the 64th session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe (RC64) taking place in Denmark, the Minister said that Cyprus has adopted all the strategic objectives included in the "Health 2020" as well as in the MoU Cyprus has signed with WHO for strategic cooperation.

He went on to say that "Health 2020" is a beacon for all member states in the development of a European policy in the health sector and the decrease of all inequalities.

The RC64 discussed issues such as the promotion of health among children and teenagers, the Policy for nutrition , the vaccination projects and the prevention of injuries.

Health Minister and the Director of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe signed a Memorandum for strategic partnership.
