Britain’s National School of Government International will consult the Cypriot government over plans to restructure the Ministries of Defence, Justice and Foreign Affairs, on the basis of an agreement signed on Friday.
The Finance Ministry said that the modernisation of the public sector is a priority of the present administration but also an obligation deriving from the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Troika of international lenders last year.
The NSGI has already offered its services in Cyprus before by submitting studies about local government by suggesting the merger of 19 municipalities into five and sharing of services, the Registrar of Companies and the Official Receiver, and human resource matters in the public sector.
The cooperation stems from a joint communiqué issued by Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and UK Prime Minister David Cameron on January 15.
