President discharged from hospital

President Nicos Anastasiades was discharged on Monday morning from the Aretaeio private hospital in Nicosia, after being admitted on Saturday with symptoms of gastroenteritis.

In statements to journalists, the President said that he feels significantly better than two days ago and thanked his physician Dr Savvas Kadis and his medical team as well as all those who wished him a speedy recovery.

“I feel much better now than I did when I was admitted to hospital”, he told journalists.

He added that he canceled all his meetings on Monday and Tuesday and will follow the doctors` instructions and rest. The President`s meeting with Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu, that was to take place today, will be rescheduled.

Asked whether he will attend the European Council on Thursday in Brussels, he said that “I will try because it is an important meeting".

On being discharged, the President headed for the Presidential Palace.
