Τhe property issue, the federal list of competencies, the federal executive and external relations will be discussed at Tuesday’s meeting of the negotiators of the Greek Cypriot and the Turkish Cypriot communities, Andreas Mavroyiannis and Kudret Ozersay, according to CNA sources.
The two officials are laying the ground for comprehensive talks between Cyprus president Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglou that resumed in February after a lull of a few years.
The prospective opening up of the ghost town of Varosha, as proposed by Anastasiades within the confidence building measures that would also see the international operation of the Turkish-controlled port of Famagusta, has brought a new momentum to the talks with United Nations, European and U.S. officials to proceed with a solution.
Mavroyiannis and Ozersay met last Tuesday, when the Turkish Cypriot side submitted a document on the competencies of the central government. Both sides submitted a paper on external relations. They also discussed the property issue.
