The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra Foundation has been accepted as a full member of the European Music Council (EMC).

According to a press release the Foundation issued here today, the EMC is the European network of networks for music, with a membership made up of national music councils as well as local, national and international music organizations which are based in Europe.

“Ιt is a lobbying and advocacy umbrella organization for musical life in Europe as it acknowledges the significant role of music and culture in the political and societal development of a peaceful and integrative Europe,” it says.

In addition, it promotes information exchange and networking, serving as a contact point for members and other music organizations and encourages the exchange of experts in music between Europe and the rest of the world.

“This membership is very important for the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra Foundation as both the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra and the Youth Orchestra will become more visible worldwide”, the press release adds.

This, it points out, “is a very good opportunity to create bonds with other cultural organizations and orchestras, participate in international programs and improve our orchestras’ activities, while following mainstream European political trends in the field of music”.
