Cyprus expects a boost in tourist arrivals from Great Britain, by as much as 35% in the summer season and 50% in the winter season of 2015, following a deal between the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) and an unnamed ‘major’ tour operator in the U.K.
Announcing the deal during a parliamentary hearing on Thursday, Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism Minister Giorgos Lakkotrypis said that a similar agreement is sought with German operators.
He added that tourists from the Ukraine are expected to double this summer season, due to events in the Crimea preventing them from vacationing at the once-popular Black Sea resort.
“We are cautiously optimistic for 2014 when it comes to tourism,” the Minister noted, adding that flight bookings reveal a good year ahead.
