EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule will be in Cyprus Monday and Tuesday on an official visit.

According to a press release issued Friday by the European Commission, Fule is traveling to Nicosia "to underline the strengthened support of the European Commission in the reunification process".

During his visit, Fule will be received by President Nicos Anastasiades and meet Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu, political parties from both communities and members of civil society.

He will also be meeting UNSG`s Special Representative in Cyprus Lisa Buttenheim.

Fule will attend the inauguration ceremony of the bi-communal project of Nicosia Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkish troops invaded and occupied its northern third. President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu reached on February 11 an agreement, which led to the resumption of UN- backed peace talks, with a view to reuniting the country under a federal roof.
