Cadbury Crème Eggs are the most sought after Easter product among Brits abroad, according to recent data released from an online supermarket for expats.
The data was put together by
www.BritishCornerShop.co.uk , who stock over 8,000 branded British products and deliver to expats in over 130 countries.
“In 2013 we sold almost 10,000 Cadbury Crème Eggs at Easter, and are well on our way to beating this figure this year. So it didn’t surprise us when they were officially listed as the most requested product from our customers,” said Chris Fraser, marketing executive at BCS.
Other chocolate treats in the top 10 include: Cadbury Mini Eggs, Galaxy Bubbles Egg, Cadbury Buttons Easter Egg and the Malteaster Mini Bunnies.
After Christmas, Easter is the most celebrated holiday in many countries, so there’s fierce competition among the top confectionery brands to produce new and exciting Easter gifts.
“This year Thorntons have produced a chocolate version of hot cross buns, as well as new characters, Harry Hopalot and Lenny Lamb chocolate lollies. However, it seems that when it comes to Easter, the original classics are likely to remain the most popular,” Chris added.
In fact, the Cadbury Crème Egg has sold so well Cadbury have now produced several different versions of it, including; the Mini Crème Eggs in a bag, the Crème Egg Easter Egg and the Crème Egg Biscuits.
Easter eggs appear to be less popular than the filled eggs and novelty gifts, with only Cadbury Buttons Egg and Smarties Egg scraping into the top 10.
