Turkish Cypriot politicians attend Clerides funeral

Present at the funeral were, among others, former Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat and his spouse Oya, the Secretary General of the Republican Turkish Party Asim Akansoy, the President of the United Cyprus party Izzet Izcan, the President of the Communal Democracy party Cemal Ozyiyit and former Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktas’ grandson Rauf Denktash.

Glafcos Clerides died last Friday, aged 94. During his long political career he has served as the first President of the House of Representatives, as an MP and as President of the Republic for two consecutive terms in office.
