A new internet portal grants biomedical researchers access to information about cancer research and established pharmaceutical agents from 83 global data sources.
According to a University of Cyprus announcement, the main target of the portal www.granatum.org is to facilitate researchers, by accelerating the research process and cutting down costs.
Granatum is aimed at university scientists, researchers and pharmaceutical companies, encouraging them to use the portal, share knowledge and collaborate in bringing about results.
The project, that started two years ago, is funded by the European Commission under the Seventh Framework Program. It is a joint venture of eight partners from Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy and Cyprus, coordinated by Fraunhofer Institute.
Cyprus partners are the Departments of Biological Sciences and IT, from the University of Cyprus.
