The University of Cyprus Department of Psychology won prize money at the 11th International Conference of the Association for Contextual and Behavioral Science (ACBS), for its “Algia” project. The conference was held in Sydney, Australia.

According to a University announcement, the project, named after the ancient Greek goddess of pain, is an innovative intervention program for dealing with chronic pain. It employs an interdisciplinary approach, combining psychological interventions and medical therapy as the treatment of choice for chronic pain.

The program is financed through the European Territorial Cooperation Programme between Greece and Cyprus, and national sources.
