President Nicos Anastasiades said on Friday he was “cautiously optimistic” as regards the course of the ongoing talks with Troika inspectors from the international lenders providing the 10 bbln euro bailout for Cyprus.
The President was asked about the negotiations underway between the government and the Troika (EC, ECB, IMF) and was invited to say whether the first draft of the updated text of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has significant changes compared to the first MoU for an international rescue programme.
“What I can say is that we make the final consultations based on the report of the representatives of the Troika,” he said, adding that in the next few days the final findings will be announced.
“I do not want to prejudge anything”, he went on to say, adding that “I am cautiously optimistic that progress so far is not negative.”
