Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades will pay a visit to Kuwait in October, whilst Lebanon’s Minister of Energy visits Cyprus in the second half of July, Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides has said.

In statements he made to CNA regarding an EU – Golf Summit he attended over the weekend in Bahrain, Kasoulides said he had the opportunity to have separate meetings with his counterparts from Qatar, the Emirates, Bahrain and Kuwait, all of whom he invited to visit Cyprus.

In the beginning of October, President Anastasiades will be paying Kuwait an official visit, accompanied by a large group of businessmen, he added.

Kasoulides pointed out that “it is important to upgrade our relations with these countries”, highlighting the prospect of inbound investments and the activity of Cypriot businessmen there.

Immediately after Bahrain, Kasoulides paid a working visit to Lebanon which concluded today.

Referring to his visit he said that he met with Lebanon’s Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati and Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Adnan Mansour.

Discussions focused on bilateral relations, the situation in Syria and matters concerning the Exclusive Economic Zones of Lebanon and Cyprus, he noted.

Replying to a CNA question on a possible cooperation on energy matters between the two countries he said that the Minister of Energy of Lebanon will be visiting Cyprus at the second half of July in order to prepare the ground for the agreements to be signed once the EEZ delineation agreement is ratified by the Lebanese Parliament, a matter still pending in view of current events in Lebanon.
