Cyprus wins second gold in Mediterranean Games

Cypriot athlete Nektaria Panayi won a gold medal in the long jump on Thursday in the 17th Mediterranean Games taking place in Mersin, Turkey. This is the second gold medal for Cyprus and the sixth in total.

The 23-year-old athlete won the gold medal with a 6.51m jump, leaving Slovenian Nina Kolaric second and Italian Tania Vicenzino third.
So far, in athletics Eleni Artymata has won the gold medal in the women’s 200m and the bronze in the women’s 100m, while Nektaria Panayi the gold in the women’s long jump.

In shooting Georgios Achilleos won the silver medal in the men’s skeet, in Taekwondo Kyriaki Kouttouki won the bronze in the women’s under 49kg, and in rowing Anna Ioannou the bronze in the women’s single sculls light.
The Games will end on June 30.
