Operation of three Cyprus semi-sate organisations suspended

The Cabinet decided to suspend the operation of three semi-state organisations, Minister of Agriculture Nicos Kougialis announced Wednesday. The operation of the Cyprus Milk Industry Organization and the Wine Products Council is being ceased immediately, while the Cyprus Potato Marketing Board will close down in the next two years.

The Cabinet adopted during today’s meeting, under President Anastasiades, the relevant proposal, submitted by the Minister of Agriculture.

Competences are being transferred to the Ministry’s Department of Agriculture, while the 81 employees working in these organisations will be absorbed in the public service.

Kougialis said moreover that this decision will save the state 3.5 mln euros per year.
