According to MTN Group plans, the role of MTN Cyprus becomes more important. MTN Group’s broader strategy is to make Cyprus an innovation hub. The new CEO of MTN commented: “Cyprus has received an unfair blow. I understand the difficulties this means for the average citizen and I am ready to work with the team to effectively respond to the new conditions and people’s needs. MTN listens to the messages. We will stand by the consumer. I joined a company that always offers more. The following months will prove it in practice”.
“I’m more than positive that Philip is the right man for the job. His experience allows him to meet the aspirations of MTN in the new digital era", Mr. Verkade said for his successor.
Referring to the recent developments, Mr. van Dalsen noted that MTN has always offered more to its subscribers and that new, smarter packages are developed for catering the needs of vulnerable social groups: “We stand by the people that are impacted more by the crisis. Even today we offer savings up to 30%. During these difficult times, more need to follow our example. At the same time, we respond to the current situation with dignity and sensitivity. As of first of February we offer free calls to all networks in our fixed packages. We have also told that we will not suspend any lines until the 18th of April.
But we don’t stop here. Our aim is to succeed permanent, sustainable changes in people’s lives. Τo relieve vulnerable social groups from an economic burden without compromising their access to communication and digital services. We are developing initiatives and smarter packages for special social groups and soon enough we ‘ll be in a position to make the corresponding announcements”, he concluded.
For 2013 MTN will offer more: Competitive prices, unique customer experience, opportunities for transition to the digital era and innovative services that will change the landscape of telecommunications in the country.
