Cyprus: Retail trade decline eases in November

The pace of decline in retail sales eased to 3.2% over the year earlier in November, according to preliminary figures.
Retail sales had dropped over the year earlier by 3.8% in October and had it a nadir of 6.4% in July.
Sales of electrical goods tumbled by 21.9%, while non-specified sales fell by 10.9%.
The all-night bakeries are probably rubbing their hands, as specialist food retailers continue to do well, presumably because more people are eating at home rather than spending money out.
Food sales in specialist stores were up 10.7% over the year earlier in November.
In January-November, retail sales were provisionally down by 3.4% compared with the corresponding period of 2011.
Retail values in the same period were down by 2.0%.
