Cyprus motor regs drop 34.6% y/y in Sep

The car sale slump showed no sign of abating in September as registrations of motor vehicles fell over the year earlier by 34.6% to 1,761, compared with 2,692 in September 2011.
For the first nine months of 2012 registrations dropped by 26.6% to 20,608 in January – September 2012. from 28,073 vehicles in the same period of 2011.
In the whole of 2011 registrations also fell, by 24.6%.
Registrations of private saloon cars in Jan-September 2012 decreased by 23.5% to 15,300 from 19,992 in the same period January-September 2011.
Among private saloon cars, 8,060 vehicles or 52.7% were new and 7,240 vehicles or 47.3% were used cars.
Commercial vehicle registrations fell even more steeply: with goods conveyance vehicles down 43.9% to 1,971 in 2012, light goods vehicles down 44.2% to 1,619 and heavy goods vehicles down 50.9% to 233 in January-September 2012.
Road tractors (units of trailers) decreased by 13.8% to 119, mopeds tumbled 42.3% to 222 and mechanised cycles (motor bikes) fell by 18.7% to 1,698.
