The EU-harmonised consumer price inflation rate (HICP) dropped to 2.9% in June, from 3.7% in May, thanks in large part to a fall in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages.
Similarly, the national consumer price index dropped to 1.8% in June from 2.9% in May.
From 2012 the weights of the HICP are calculated on the basis of National Accounts data, which gives a bigger weight to accommodation services.
In January-June the HICP rate rose by 3.3% whereas the national CPI rose by 2.9%.
