Cyprus jobless climbs relentlessly in March

The pace of increase in jobless accelerated in March, rising by 31.8% over the year earlier, compared with an increase of 27.1% in February.
The total number of number of registered unemployed in February was 37,443, compared with 28,401 in March 2011.
The main increases by sector were in construction (an increase of 1,987), wholesale and retail trade (1,903), accommodation and food service activities (1,222), manufacturing (1,200) and public administration (804).
Newcomers to the labour market increased by 309.
Unemployment is also rising on a seasonally adjusted basis, rising to 34,143 compared with 32,965 in the previous month.
