Cyprus Green Line card transactions fall in March

Card spending over the Green Line fell compared with the year earlier in March, according to data from JCC payment systems.
Total card spending by Greek Cypriots north of the Green Line dropped by 22.8% over the year earlier to EUR 360,237, according to analysis of JCC data conducted by Sapienta Economics.
Among the main items of expenditure, the biggest drop in spending in the north has been for entertainment (mainly casinos), which dropped by 64.8% to EUR 41,663.
Spending on airlines, by contrast, rose by 29.1% to EUR 110,386.
Total spending by Turkish Cypriots south of the Green Line also fell in March, by 5.0% compared with the year earlier to EUR 1.33 mln.
Card spending at department stores fell the most, by 19.1% to EUR 80,076.
