EU governments add businesses, people to Belarus sanctions list

EU governments decided on Friday to sanction a further 12 people from Belarus, including two businessmen and their companies, diplomats said, widening the range of targets to punish President Alexander Lukashenko's crackdown on civil liberties.

The sanctions, agreed by EU foreign ministers at a meeting in Brussels, will come into force on Saturday, when the list of targeted people and companies is scheduled to become public.
