35 flights to be affected in Cyprus airports by air traffic controllers’ strike

The air traffic controllers four-hour strike on Wednesday will affect thirty-five scheduled flights to and from Larnaka and Pafos airports.

In statements to the Press airport Spokesman Adamos Aspris said that “unfortunately it was not possible to avoid the air traffic controllers strike announced for tomorrow”.

According to Aspris, Cyprus airport authorities received at about one o’clock the official notification of the four hour strike due to take place on Wednesday between one o’ clock and five in the afternoon local time (11:00 – 15:00 GMT).

As a result, thirty-five flights will be affected, seventeen of which are departures and eighteen of which are arrivals, he noted.

Twenty-three flights, 12 departures and 11 arrivals are going to be affected as regards Larnaca airport and twelve flights, five departures and seven arrivals are going to be affected in Pafos airport.

Aspris also said that an estimated five thousand passengers are going to be affected.

He called on the public to be in contact with their airlines and travel agents in order to avoid any further discomfort.
