Russians keep up tourism recovery in October

October was another good month for tourism with total arrivals rising by 7.5% compared with the year earlier to 259,863 in October 2011 compared with 241,698 in October 2010.
Arrivals from Russia continued to bound ahead, rising by 45.8% over the year earlier to 32,995, from 22,637 in October, 2010.
This was on top of an increase of more than 50% in Russian arrivals last year.
Arrivals from the UK, which remains the biggest market, rose by 5.1% to 113,205, from 107,729 in October 2010.
For the period January – October 2011 arrivals of tourists totalled 2,234,011 compared with 2,019,154 in the corresponding period of 2010, recording an increase of 10.6%.
