Tourism continued to climb in September, with the number of tourism arrivals up by 5.2% over the year earlier to 304,260 compared with 289,126 in September 2010.
While there was a 1.7% fall in the number of arrivals from the UK, to 135,103 in September 2011 from 137,473 in September 2010, the buoyant Russian market more than made up for this.
Arrivals from Russian increased by 49.9% to 49,863 from 33,267 in 2010, having already risen by more than 50% in 2010.
In the period January – September 2011 total arrivals rose by 11.1% to 1,974,147 compared with 1,777,456 in the corresponding period of 2010.
