Cyprus trade deficit shrinks in Jan-Apr

Total imports/arrivals from other EU member states in May reached EUR 521.2 mln, according to preliminary estimates for foreign trade in May.
Of this total, EUR 339.3 mln consisted of arrivals from other member states of the EU and EUR 181.9 mln were imports from third countries.
Total exports/dispatches to other EU member states reached EUR 122.4 mln.
Of this, EUR 83.8 mln constituted dispatches to other member states of the EU and EUR 38.6 mln exports to third countries.
Meanwhile, according to full data for April, total imports in January-April 2011 rose to EUR 2,078.0 mln, compared with EUR 2.059.2 mln in January-April 2010.
Total exports in January-April 2011 rose to EUR 456.8mln compared with EUR 348.0 mln in January-April 2010.
The trade deficit shrank to EUR 1,621.2 mln in January-April 2011 compared with EUR 1,711.3 mln in the corresponding period of 2010.
For April alone total imports/arrivals were EUR 517.2 mln and total exports were EUR 123.1 mln.
