Cyprus trade deficit widens in February (prov)

The trade deficit widened slightly in February according to preliminary figures, reaching EUR 420.16 mln compared with EUR 398.12 mln in February 2010.
The preliminary trade deficit for the first two months of the year was EUR 791.3 mln, compared with EUR 772.6 mln in the same period of 2010.
In February alone, preliminary data report imports of EUR 529.0 mln.
Of this, EUR 417.4 mln constituted arrivals from other member states of the EU and EUR 111.6 mln imports from third countries.
Total exports/dispatches reached a preliminary EUR 108.4 mln .
Of this, EUR 64.5 mln were dispatches to other Member States of the EU and EUR 43.9 mln exports to third countries.
Revised data for January reported total imports/arrivals of EUR 466.4 mln and total exports/dispatches of EUR 95.7 mln.
The trade deficit was EUR 370.7 mln in January 2011 compared with EUR 374.5 mln in January 2010.
Εxports of domestically produced goods in January 2011 reached EUR 45.0 mln while exports/dispatches of foreign goods, including stores and provisions, reached EUR 50.7 mln.
