Chairman of the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) Alecos Orountiotis has expressed his support to cooperation and the great importance Cyprus attributes to the further strengthening of the already close and friendly relations between Cyprus and Russia.

Orountiotis, who is participating in the Cypriot delegation, under Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Antonis Paschalides, in the ''Saint Petersburg Days'', said that cultural tourism was important, since the cultural aspect enriches and upgrades the comprehensive, multidimensional experience of visitors to Cyprus.

He also said that the Russian market was one of high priority and that this year there were even more prospects to develop it, especially from Saint Petersburg and the Russian region, due to new flights.

Orountiotis added that already 15% of tourists from Russia were from Saint Petersburg.

Various events, in the framework of ''Saint Petersburg Days'', will also be held in Cyprus.
