Cyprus prepares to receive foreign citizens evacuated from Cairo, Egypt, due to the unrest caused by mass protests against the declining financial conditions and the regime of President Hosni Mubarak.

Adamos Aspris Spokesman of Hermes Airports told CNA that officials from the Cypriot Foreign Ministry, the Civil Aviation Department, the heads of Hermes Airports and other government officials are participating in a meeting of the Crisis Management Centre in Larnaca Airport which began at 09:00 local time.

''The meeting will deal with the planning in the case of extraordinary flights from Cairo to Larnaca for the transportation of foreign nationals from Egypt,'' he said.

Aspris assured that extraordinary flights would not disrupt the normal flight schedule. ''Both Cyprus' airports are ready to respond to this crisis,'' he added.
