“Cyprus EYEs Are Open”, a partnership coordinated by the European Office in Cyprus (EOC) will launch a program for businessmen titled “Erasmus for New Entrepreneurs”, it was announced here today.

The program is scheduled to start February 1st and will last for 21 months, aiming to give new entrepreneurs the opportunity to attend an apprenticeship in a company of their choice in any other country of the EU.

Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Cyprus Federation of Business and Professional Women are also partners in the venture.

Speaking at a press conference, Gregory Makrides, Manager of the EOC said that the program, which started in the EU in 2008, aims at promoting entrepreneurship and competition among newly founded businesses in the EU.

Furthermore, the program gives the opportunity to entrepreneurs to exchange views with their colleagues in other European countries and to gain experience in areas of their interest.

There is also a great opportunity for participants to learn more about the economic environment in the country they are traveling to, as well as gain access to new and advanced technologies.

There is no age limit for participants in the program. However, the project is addressed to either people planning to start their own business or have had their own companies over the past three years.

According to statistics, the biggest interest over the years was for apprenticeships in the areas of Promotion, Advertising and Media.

Travel expenses and accommodation are covered exclusively by the EU.

Allocation for apprenticeships in Britain is estimated at 1,000 euro, in Denmark at 1,100, in Cyprus at 760 and in Bulgaria at 560 euro.
