Cyprus retail trade continues modest recovery in August

Retail trade volumes rose for the third month in a row in August according to preliminary figures, rising by 1.6% over the year earlier, compared with an increase of 2.2% in July and 1.2% in June.
Compared with the previous month, retail trade fell for seasonal reasons by 12.6%.
In the period January-August 2010, retail trade volumes fell by 0.2% over the same period of 2009.
In value terms, retail trade excluding automotive fuel rose by a provisional 4.5% over the year earlier in August, compared with 3.2% in July.
For the period January-August 2010 the value index rose was stagnant compared with the corresponding period of 2009.
